Founder History
Emily has been a practicing genetic counselor since 2000. She is board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC). She obtained her Masters of Science in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College.
Throughout her career, she has provided both in-person genetic counseling, as well as counseling via telemedicine. She has experience in a broad range of fields including infertility and reproduction, pregnancy concerns, pediatric conditions, adult-onset disease, and cancer. She spent many years working with our US military families, where she established the first genetic counseling program at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos). Emily has a reputation for providing the most accurate information regarding genetic disease and testing options while offering all patients a nurturing and supportive environment in which to make the best decisions for themselves and their family.
Emily believes everyone should have easy access to genetic counselors and genetic information. As the number of genetic tests available explodes, individuals need to be able to reach a genetics expert when they need them, at a time that is convenient, from a place they feel comfortable.
Emily founded Nurture Genetics to make genetic services readily available to everyone, regardless of their location. Genetic counseling is an important part of the genetic testing process to ensure an individual understands their options and the meaning of their test results.
Genetic testing is a personal decision and Nurture Genetics is here to support you. If you are searching for the highest quality and supportive genetic counseling experience, Welcome, you’re in the right place.
